Maybe you were feeling like you had a great year at work with your first hot sales streak, or maybe you truly have achieved a great job position in the company. Regardless of your reasoning for purchasing a luxury car, European Motors has the supply and the service that you need to keep your car in perfect working condition. But like all good things, there are things that need to be maintained every once in a while, and we’re not talking about oil or tires. Whether you have an Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Infiniti, Lexus, Mercedes or Porsche, we are certified and able to maintain preemptively for you so you don’t have to repair it in an emergency.
If you’ve ever owned a luxury car, you’re probably aware that there is a cost to having all that comfort and horsepower at your fingertips. A sensitive car intuitively learns your driving style, but mishandling your car too early from your purchase date will break it in in ways that it probably wasn’t intended to drive by. In this blog, we’ll make you aware of some of the better costing repairs so you know before you look into an Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Infiniti, Lexus, Mercedes or Porsche.
1. Turbocharger Assembly
Almost all cars that want to claim to have that “punch” status need a turbocharger. Odds are; if you have a high end Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Infiniti, Lexus, Mercedes or Porsche, then you probably have this assembly and need to maintain it regularly.
The Turbocharger forces cooler air into the engine, optimizing the fuel/air ratio which results in a more energetic explosion inside each of the chambers, forcing the pistons up and down with more force, resulting in much better horsepower. These units operate at extremely high rotational speeds, making them very sensitive and even more susceptible to damage when not maintained properly. Make sure you have a maintenance schedule for your car if you can confirm that your Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Infiniti, Lexus, Mercedes or Porsche is equipped with a turbocharger.
2. Transmission
What do you think controls your 500 HP engine? There is a means to delivering all that force to the asphalt and your transmission is what does the job. If you’ve ever spun your tires coming out of a red light, you’ll find that it’s a lot of fun to feel your back being forced into the seat. Unfortunately all of this fun can be difficult for the transmission to handle.
It’s not necessarily bad for you to do this, but it definitely strains the engine if you’re doing this every day. It’s for this reason you should check your transmission fluid, have a professional look at your car’s transmission teeth to make sure that they’re not unevenly worn, etc. This is also another great reason to have a maintenance warranty, which we offer.
3. Hybrid Battery Assembly
While Hybrids seem like they’re the cars of the future today, there is one problem with where technology is with this type of car – it’s a totally different car. There isn’t a carburetor in a hybrid, there isn’t a catalytic converter… We’ve reached so far into the future and brought back these great futuristic cars from Tesla, Honda and BMW that the mechanics we have today don’t necessarily have complete knowledge, understanding or experience to confidently repair them. If you drive your hybrid in Plano, Texas then you’ve got a problem because as great as hybrids are, they lose performance in hotter climates and require more maintenance. For hybrid luxury cars, replacing a battery is equivalent to replacing an engine.
4. Cylinders
This is one of the worst maintenance problems you can have with your car. If your car is experiencing a misfire, you could be smashing your pistons inside the cylinders, which is a very costly repair job. It may not exactly be the parts themselves, which are costly but it’s the labor that kills. Replacing the pistons or cylinders in your car involve removing the engine. If you’ve ever removed an engine, it means disconnecting dozens of valves, hoses, clamps, etc. The next step would be actually reaching the cylinders. This involves taking the engine apart, which can be extremely time consuming. Labor by itself can run as much as $8,000 for this job, and it’s not a guarantee that it won’t happen again. If you have a flashing check engine light, stop everything and bring your Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Infiniti, Lexus, Mercedes or Porsche to European Motors. Our maintenance warranties will keep you covered and safe from these extremely costly repairs.
